BACK TO BASICS: WHICH INK SHOULD I USE ?

When we start stamping, it might be confusing to know which ink to use for different purposes. Here is a little cheat sheet that should help determine what to use and when.

CLASSIC INK :

It is a water based ink, dries quickly and is available in fifty different Stampin’ Up! coordinated colours.

Classic Ink pads can easily be refreshed with the assorted Ink Refills. The pad flips open so when it is stored, the ink always remains at the top of the pad, fresh and ready to stamp.

USE: For general stamping; you can also use it to water-colour with an Aqua Painter or a Blender Pen.

TIP: to open a new Classic Stamp Pad, press the top with both thumbs, flip and slide into the groove.

STAZON INK:

Stazon ink is an archival type Black ink that will not fade. It dries quickly and resists to water. It may be used with rubber stamps but will likely stain polymer stamps. Clean with Stazon Cleaner (remove what is left on polymer stamps with mild soap and water. Now also available in Saddle Brown for a beautiful antique look.

USE: Stamp images for watercoloring techniques with Aqua Painters, Blender Pens, Water-colour Pencils and Brusho Pigments. Use on non porous surfaces such as Window Sheets, vellum and cellophane bags. Gives good results for crafting on tile, glass and other such materials.

VERSAMARK INK:

VersaMark Ink, as the name indicates, is a transparent watermark type ink that creates a tone on tone effect. It takes longer to dry, which is a benefit when you are using for techniques.

Use it for heat embossing : stamp with VersaMark, pour embossing power and use heat tool to set. Use it for a translucide look, or tone on tone.
