LOVE THESE DARLING DONKEYS

Stampin’ Up!’s yearly Sale-A-Bration promotion is on since January 6 and one of the cutest sets available for FREE with a qualifying order is Darling Donkeys. I had a chance to play with this new set and wanted to share a birthday card and a few others (at the end of the video).

Here are the supplies and steps required to make this cute card.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Darling Donkeys Stamp Set

  • Pear Pizzaz Card Stock : 1 piece of 8-½ x 5-½” scored at 4-¼” and one piece of 2 x 5” for the grass

  • Soft Suede : 1 piece of 5-¼ x 4”

  • Seaside Spray : 1 piece cut at 5 x 3-¾” (to create the sky behind the donkeys)

  • Whisper White (or Basic white) : 1 piece cut at 5-¼” by 4 and one piece to stamp the donkeys and greetings.

  • Stampin’ Blends : Grey Granite Combo Light and Dark; Petal Pink Combo Light and Dark; Magenta Madness Dark (for the flower);

  • Circle Punch (I used 1-¾ but you can use 2” punch or an equivalent circle die)

  • Pinewood Planks 3 D embossing folder (152320)

  • Friendly Silhouettes Dies (149546)

  • Braided Linen Trim (147808), approximately 4 inches

  • Soft Suede Classic Ink Pad (for greetings)

  • Memento Ink Pad for donkeys (to colour with Blends)

  • Paper snips to fussy cut the donkeys.

  • Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (149653)

  • Stampin’ Dimensionals and Multi-purpose glue.

HOW TO

STEP 1: Stamp all three donkeys from the Darling Donkeys Stamp Set with Memento Ink. Let dry.

STEP 2: Colour your donkeys to taste and fussy cut them out.

STEP 3: Fold your card base and use your bone folder to make a crisp fold. Set aside

STEP 4: Run the piece of Soft Suede in the Pinewood Planks 3D embossing folder. Run the extra piece of Pear Pizzaz in the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine, using the Friendly Silhouette die of high grasses.

STEP 5: Punch out two circles one in the right top corner (approximately ½ Inch from the top and side) the top, one in the left bottom corner (again leaving at least ½ inch from the sides). Keep the circles to use on the inside of the card.

STEP 6: Cut some pieces of the grasses to fit the circle opening; position it by gluing it on the bottom. Select the donkey for the opening position through the hole and glue behind the grass. Glue the piece of Seaside Spray behind the grass and donkeys to create the sky through the circles.

STEP 7: Glue the resulting card front to the card base. Use about 4 inches of Braided linen trim and glue it to the card front, between both circles and slip it behind the ears of the donkeys. Stamp and cut out the sentiments with Soft Suede Classic Ink. Use mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiments to the card front.

STEP 8: Create the inside layer of the card. Place the Soft Suede circles on the sides of the white card stock. Take the third donkey (sitting donkey) and adhere to the bottom of the piece. Stamp the inside sentiment with Soft Suede Ink. Flip the layer and cut off the exceeding pieces of circles. Adhere to the inside of the card.

STEP 9: Decorate your envelope by stamping the donkey faces or by embossing part of the envelope with the embossing folder.
