HOLIDAY TRIO OF BOXES

The Holiday Seasons means gifts, big and small. These are perfect for homemade treats. Here is a trio of boxes, inspired by a Connie Stewart video, that can be used with any Designer Series Paper and cardstock. This one uses the beautiful Brightly Gleaming Specialty paper with its copper accents.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock: 8 x 8, scored at 2 finches on all sides

  • Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock: 7 x 7” scored at 2 inches on all sides

  • Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock: 6 x 6” scored at 2 inches on all sides

  • Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP : 3 pieces: bottom pattern 6 x 6, middle is 5 x 5 and top is 4 x 4, scored on all sides at 1” (with a shim to ensure proper fit).

  • 54 inches of the Very Vanilla and Copper Holiday ribbon.

HOW TO

STEP 1: See Box Maker Shim online on YouTube. Use the shim to score the top of boxes with the paper upside down. Score the bottoms without the shim.

STEP 2: Snip the ends of the squares, that have been scored. Miter, meaning cut a sliver (piece of pie) on both sides of the little square, to make the assembly easier. Lids and boxes will fit better. The sliver will ensure less bulk when you stick the paper.

STEP 3: Assemble the pieces. The DSP is more fragile, so just fold with fingers. With the thick cardstock it is fine to use a bone folder for a crisp fold. Do the same thing for all three sizes.

STEP 4: For the box, use tear and tape on the edge of the fold for all the squares that have been cut. repeat on all sides. Remove the backing on the tear and tape. Bring the edges together. Line them up well. On the lid, you can use Multipurpose Glue, always on scoreline and flaps that have been mitered.

STEP 5: When all three boxes and lids are done, stack them on one another. Fold ribbon in two equal parts, lay on top, twist on the bottom, come up on the other side and tie a knot and a bow.

STEP 6: Create a tag with an ornament punch. Punch out an ornament from the left over DSP punch out the tip from a scrap of copper foil paper and glue to the tip. Flag a piece of 2 inch cardstock, stamp your sentiment. Attach to the to the ribbon.
