#SIMPLESTAMPING : HAVE A WHALE OF A TIME !

I love the ocean and gravitate to the collections that highlight its beauty (and creatures). I have a few cards to make for younger people and one of my favourite suites for this purpose is Whale of a Time, in Stampin’ Up!’s annual catalogue. The Designer Series Paper is particularly charming with a bunch of seascapes, turtles and, of course, the adorable whale. The suite comes with a matching punch, which is also one my go to products to make simple cards in a jiffy.

This card uses one of the designs of the Whale of a Time DSP, layered to allow space of my jumping whales and a sentiment on the bottom. Follow the video and see the supplies and instructions below.

WHAT YOU NEED

·      Pretty Peacock card stock (150880) cut 8-1/2 x 5-1/2” scored at 4-1/4”. You can also use the other standard card base of 11 x 4-1/4” scored at 5-1/2”. One strip of 1” x 4-1/4”. Punch out some whales from the Pretty Peacock scraps.

·      Wave design of the Whale of a time Designer Series Paper (152460), cut at 4” x 6” and two ½” strips to decorate the inside layer. Fussy cut a whale from the whale design pattern of the DSP.

·      Strip of Basic White card stock ¾” x 4-1/4” and one insert of 4 x 5-1/4” for the sentiment on the inside.

·      Whale Done Bundle (154053)

·      Whale Done Stamp Set (152470)

·      Whale Done Punch (152699)

·      Paper Snips (103579)

·      Silicone Craft Sheet (127853)

·      Pretty Peacock Stamp Pad (150083- hurry it is retiring soon!)

·      Frosted and Clear Epoxy Droplets (147801)

HOW TO

·      Cut and fold the Pretty Peacock card base.

·      Use a 4” x 6” piece of wave patterned DSP (cut 4 inches vertically)

·      With the paper snips, cut 4 strips of DSP using the waves to guide your cuts.

·      Position the strips top down: first top one with adhesive, second, third ones with Stampin’ Dimensionals, fourth and bottom one with two layers of Stampin’ Dimensionals.

·      Fussy cut one whale from the DSP patterned paper of whales.

·      Stamp one whale on your silicone mat, and use a scrap piece of Basic white to press on the silicone image, so you get a whale going the other side.

·      Stamp your greeting on the Basic White strip and adhere to the Pretty Peacock layer

·      Add little drops on the layered DSP and punched out drops on each side of the greeting.

Decorate your envelope. I like to use the coordinated Seabed 3D embossing folder to emboss the flap.
