SAND AND SEA POP-UP CARD

I couldn’t help but fall in love with the Sand and Sea Suite, in the new January-June mini-catalogue. I had to have it all. Today’s project uses the Designer Series Paper in a very original fancy fold that I really enjoyed making. It is easier than you may think. Watch the video and try it for yourself. Because it is square, you can adapt it to different sizes. This card is 5” x 5”. You can close it with a mini magnet or use ribbon, whatever strikes your fancy. When you open it up, it is really impressive.

Have fun !

HOW TO

  • Fold your card base and use the bone folder for crisp folds. You can adhere the DSP to the card base and set it aside.

  • Score the Basic white at the same 2-1/2” and 7-1/2”, just like the card base. Then, make a tick mark by measuring to 5” from the edge on both sides of the layer. This will create the diagonal across the layer.

  • With your Stampin’ Trimmer, line up the corner of the White paper to the tick mark in the groove and score the diagonal line. Repeat the operation on the top and bottom on both sides.

  • Once you have created the fold, use your bone folder to flatten the pop-up piece. Your structure is now complete.

  • Decorate the inside with the DSP pieces. Place them to your taste before adhering. One of the 3-3/8 pieces will be scored diagonally on both sides, then cut on the score lines, to create 4 little triangles. One of the squares will be cut in two for the triangles at the ends; one will remain fully square and placed in the center.

  • Take the two squares of pearlescent paper and emboss them in the Seabed Embossing Folder.

  • Adhere all your pieces on the inside.

  • Die-cut two labels - one with the 4” wide label, one with the 4-1/2” label die.

  • Stamp your greeting with the Misty Moonlight Ink Pad. Adhere the label on the centerpiece of the pop-up layer.

  • Fold-down the pop-up layer. Insert in the card base so the four tips are inside the base. Adhere with strong adhesives, such as multipurpose glue or Stampin’ Seal +.

  • To close the card, use a small magnet or a ribbon.

  • Decorate the top greeting with a seashell sticker and some opals

  • To close the card, wrap approximately 18 inches of ribbon. Use several Stampin’ Dimensionals on half of the label and adhere to the top layer, so you can still open the right-hand side of the card. Add mini-magnets if needed to keep the label closed.

  • Cut a piece of envelope paper or cardstock measuring 8-1/8” x 8-1/8”·   Using the envelope punch board, score and punch to create a 5 x 5 envelope.

  • Decorate your envelope
