BAGS, BOXES AND MORE : AN EASY GIFT BAG !
If you are anything like me, you love Designer Series Paper, buy it because it is so beautiful, then stash it in your collection and forget to use it. As a demonstrator, I am tempted every time Stampin’ Up! comes out with a new catalogue and have years of beautiful paper, not seeing the light of day. Well I want to change that and this week’s project (and new series) is meant to help you find new ways of using what you already have. The project is an easy to make gift bag that can be adapted for any occasion, depending on which paper you decide to use.
WHAT YOU NEED
2 sheets of Designer Series Paper (this one uses Beauty of the Earth) but any 2 identical sheets are fine.
2 pieces of ribbon measuring approximately 8 inches
4 brads
1 piece of coordinating card stock cut at 3” x 6” to reinforce the bottom.
A scoring tool or ruler.
HOW TO
Start by scoring each sheet of Designer Series paper :
for the bigger bag : 3 sides at 3”, one side at 2”
for the smaller bag: 3 sides at 1-1/2” and one side at 1”
TIP: If your DSP has a particular pattern, make sure you try out your decorative border and see how you want the pattern to show on the outside of your bag. Then score the bottom of the sheet (not the top).
On one sheet, cut off the bottom corners completely. On the second sheet, cut the corner scoreline from the side. You may want to mitre them a bit (which means cutting a bit at an angle to make them fit better).
Burnish and fold your bag on the score lines. Fold the top decorative side on the outside of the bag.
Assemble the sides and bottom with strong adhesive.
Pinch and fold the top. Using a piercing mat, pierce all the layers with your Take your Pick Tool.
Insert a brad to hold your ribbon. Make sure your ribbon is the same length on both sides.
Decorate your bag with a tag or any other addition that will make it personal and pretty.
