Beach Vellum Card

We are beginning September as I write this, and I am in denial that summer is almost over. Because many of my friends will be going down south, for the winter, I thought I would keep the spirit of summer alive for just a little longer with this Vellum Beach scene. The wishes I picked work for an anniversary, but can be adapted to any occasion with the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set. It is one of two cards that we will make together at the #simplestamping, Easy Cardmaking Class at ALE, on September 23, 2019.

What you need

  • Crumb cake cardstock cut at 5 ½ x 8 ½ scored at 4-1/4

  • Sahara Sand cardstock cut at 5 ¼ x 4

  • Vellum Paper  2 pieces of 5 ¼ x 2-1/2

  • Seaside Spray Cardstock 1 piece of 5 ¼”x 2 ½”

  • Crumb Cake Ink 147116

  • Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set 151331

  • 3/16” Braided Linen Trim 147808

How to

STEP 1:            Stamp your sentiment on the bottom right of the Sahara Sand layer (the lighter beige single piece) with the darker Crumb Cake ink. While you are stamping, pick an image from the Sailing home stamp set and stamp your envelope. Stamp the inside of the card with a sentiment of your choice.

STEP 2: Tear the bottom edge of the Seaside Spray (blue) cardstock about ¼ of an inch, in a random pattern to create the impression of waves.

STEP 3:            Tear three strips of vellum paper (on both sides) to give it the look of wave. We don’t want a straight line, tear to your taste, just make sure to keep the strip in one piece.

STEP 4:            With glue, line up the top of the blue to the Sahara Sand piece and adhere it.

On top of the torn edge of the blue, add a very thin line of glue. Put one piece of vellum on top and smush it across. Do the same thing for the two remaining pieces of vellum, press the paper it so it does not leave big blobs of glue. Use a bone folder to press, if needed.

STEP 5:            Tie the linen trim around the Sahara Sand layer and finish with a knot.

STEP 6:            Adhere your Sahara Sand layer to the Crumb Cake card base.
